"Safe food now for a healthy tomorrow" is the slogan of the III World Food Safety Day proclaimed by the UN General Assembly, observed yearly on the 7th of June.
The COVID emergency has made this topic even more important, as expressed by the FAO: “the pandemic has highlighted many food-related issues, such as hygiene, antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic diseases, climate change and food fraud, and has pinpointed vulnerabilities in food production and control systems”, which could benefit from digitisation.
In Italy, according to an analysis by Coldiretti based on the latest EFSA report, domestically produced food is six times safer than food from other countries.
