Italian culinary luminaries were fêted on the 7th of November, a day rich in gatherings and award ceremonies, at the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan. During the event organised by the Italian Academy of Cuisine, President Paolo Petroni conferred the Orio Vergani and Gianni Fossati Prizes and the Prix Nationaux (National Prizes) of the Académie Internationale de la Gastronomie (AIG).
Among the awardees, the Casa Artusi Foundation, represented by its President Laila Tentoni, received the prestigious Orio Vergani Prize for its mission to continue Pellegrino Artusi’s food culture legacy.
The Gianni Fossati Prize for journalism was a tie between the journalists Giovanni Angelucci, Camilla Baresani and Eleonora Cozzella for their efforts to rediscover and promote Italian gastronomic traditions.
The AIG’s Prix Nationaux 2024 were delivered to: Arianna Gatti (Prix au chef de l’Avenir – Chef of the Future Prize), Rino Billia (Prix au Sommelier – Sommelier Prize), Kevin Fejzullai (Prix au chef Pâtissier – Pastry Chef Prize), Luca Clerici (Prix de la Littérature Gastronomique – Food Literature Prize) and Carlo Spinelli (Prix Multimedia – Multimedia Prize).
