EU-USA breakthrough: Airbus-Boeing agreement brings tariff truce

The EU and the USA have agreed on a five-year suspension of food export tariffs associated with the Boeing-Airbus affair. The truce, following the temporary tariff suspension in March, will allow time to formulate an agreement ending the dispute definitively. The understanding also includes an anti-Beijing clause aiming to work together to counter Chinese ambitions.
“Eliminating these taxes sends a positive message to all the production chains affected by it, from dairy to cured meats to alcoholic beverages, and constitutes an additional message of trust in this post-pandemic economic recovery phase”, commented Gian Marco Centinaio, Undersecretary of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies. (ANSA)
