16 October - WORLD FOOD DAY

The World Food Day 2024, celebrated on October 16, will focus on the theme "The Right to Food." The FAO will host a main ceremony in Rome, featuring prominent international figures, including FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, and representatives from organizations such as the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Additionally, heads of state and government, nutrition experts, and civil society leaders are expected to attend, sharing direct testimonies and discussing policies to ensure access to sufficient and nutritious food for all, recognizing food not only as a necessity but as a fundamental right.
Successful local initiatives will also be showcased. Globally, schools and communities will participate with educational events to raise awareness about the importance of the right to food.
