Piazza di Siena, in Rome, served as the magnificent setting for the gala dinner held in support of Italian cuisine’s candidacy for UNESCO World Heritage status. Speakers included Francesco Lollobrigida, the Minister of Agriculture; Gennaro Sangiuliano, the Minister of Culture; and Andrea Abodi, the Minister for Sport and Youth. The President of the Academy, Paolo Petroni, was represented by President’s Council member and Roma Nomentana Delegate Alessandro Di Giovanni, who took the opportunity to interact with numerous well-informed guests. In particular, Councillor Di Giovanni reiterated to Minister Lollobrigida that the initiative which occasioned the gathering has the Academy’s total support, recalling that the Academy’s mission since its birth in 1953 is to protect and sustain Italian cuisine at home and abroad.
