Dante Alighieri and food

Milano Brera Academician Aldo E. Tàmmaro explains how the Bard’s body of work may help to emphasise the importance of food in human life. Food appears in his poems with predominantly negative connotations, as the object of gluttony,  condemned as a cardinal sin by thr Church. In the Divine Comedy, food and anyrhing associated with it assumes a prevalently metaphisical role.
